IBM Virtualization Engine

Hardware and software system basis: IBM H blade servers with HS22V edges, DS3400 storage system. Reservation of data is provided. The technologies of IBM used in the IBM BladeCenter HS22V server allow to reach the maximum capacity and efficiency of use of resources in blade form factor.

HS22V

The high-performance blade server of high density optimized for virtualization and ensuring energy efficiency. It includes the additional built-in hypervisor, storage capacity up to 144 GB and to two low-voltage 1.8-inch solid-state disks.

Software platform

By means of the IBM Virtualization Engine™ platform (USA) it is possible to reduce costs, to increase utilization coefficient of resources and to simplify resource management of infrastructure. IBM BladeCenter® in combination with IBM Virtualization Engine provides virtual environment in which it is possible to use On Demand business infrastructure. For example:

• IBM BladeCenter Nosnashchen the module of management Advanced Management Module which integrates management, control and installation for all chassis in general. It allows IT managers to work more effectively and to manage all solution, and not just components. The BladeCenter H model more uses virtualization; by means of the corresponding built-in function not only virtualization of workloads and storage systems of the server, but also virtualization of input-output systems is executed (using the Cisco VFrame program) that gives to clients exclusive opportunities practically for any adaptation.

• To IBM Director (USA) (a management tool systems for management of networks in a homogeneous and heterogeneous hardware environment) it is delivered in the place with IBM BladeCenter. IBM Director uses the approach which is not depending on the platform for control of hardware and virtual partitions and provides standard infrastructure of management for servers, network components and storage systems.

• The VMware GSX Server and ESX Server server (USA) provides a virtualization layer which allows several virtual machines to work at the same time on one physical server. By means of the virtual symmetric multiprocessor (Virtual Symmetrical Multiprocessor - SMP) virtual machines can work with several physical processors that does them by ideal means for accomplishment of applications of the enterprise, resource intensive. Unlike physical servers virtual machines can be created within several minutes and to move them from one physical server on another without reconfiguring of the operating system or the application. VMware allows to move from one server on another even the working virtual machines, saving at the same time permanent availability of services.

Means of IBM Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) is the additional IBM Director expansion. VMM allows to operate the physical and virtual vehicles from one console. By means of a combination of IBM Director and VMM it is possible to manage both the VMware ESX Server environments, and Microsoft® Virtual Server. Besides, VMM integrates VMware VirtualCenter and IBM Director for expanded control of virtual machines. Important part: clients of IBM receive VMM free of charge!

• Virtualised Hosted Client Infrastructure - by means of the program of virtualization of VMware, technologies of access for the client of Citrix or the ClearCube program and the BladeCenter servers virtual infrastructure of a hosting of clients provides to the thin client all functions of the desktop computer. It increases utilization coefficient of computing resources, allows to implement quickly new users and reduces total ownership cost for environments of desktop computers.
