The Ministry of Defense purchased more than 1 thousand tablets with the Aurora OS for officials

The Russian Ministry of Defense has purchased more than a thousand tablet computers with the domestic Aurora operating system for the most senior officials of the department. This was announced on February 2, 2023 by TASS, citing sources in the military-industrial complex and in the IT market.

Earlier, the Government of the Russian Federation proposed to use the Aurora OS in the state authorities of the Russian Federation as part of the implementation of the federal project "Digital Public Administration." The document developed by the Ministry of Digital Science provides for an increase in the availability of domestic digital services and technologies, as well as an expansion of the use of the Aurora domestic mobile operating system. Within its framework, it is planned to provide state authorities of the Russian Federation and regions, as well as state institutions with tablets based on the domestic operating system. In addition, the Ministry of Digital Development within the framework of the project undertakes to deliver all equipment to destination points, provide, if necessary, all technical work, as well as tie all tablets to the cloud storage system.

The implementation of the draft resolution will not entail negative socio-economic, financial and other consequences of the implementation of the proposed solutions, including for business and other economic entities. The adoption of the draft resolution will not require additional federal budget expenditures, the explanatory note to the document says.

On new devices, it will be possible to call other subscribers, edit the address book, exchange messages, make the necessary notes, as well as take photos and videos.^[1]
