2023: Translation to domestic software

VTB has completed the translation of its own platform of open program interfaces (API) into Russian import-independent software. This was announced on February 16, 2023 by the Deputy President-Chairman of the Board of VTB Bank Vadim Kulik. The transition will allow the bank to maintain a safe and stable technological basis for the development of VTB's partnership with various companies, as well as the uninterrupted operation of all platform-related services.

As representatives of VTB specified to TAdviser, the transfer of the API platform to import-independent components was carried out with the IBM API Connect solution. The bank's specialists took the open source gateway and independently created the control layer. According to their estimates, as a result of the transfer to Russian software, working with the platform has become 3 times more productive, and the platform itself is more fault-tolerant.

The API platform allows you to simplify and fully automate the connection of external partners from various industries to VTB services. In addition, it optimizes the interaction of the bank's internal systems with each other, ensures reliability and increases productivity, allows you to speed up the introduction of new products and services within the bank.

Universal program interfaces are a single tool for connecting to bank services. It eliminates the need for additional integration of the same type of services. Strict accounting of all APIs published on the platform allows you to significantly save resources, as well as apply APIs of external partners, creating additional services on their basis. The API platform was created in response to the need of the business: work is carried out in business logic, translating it into the IT language.

He also noted that the bank knows everything about its APIs: which of them are most in demand, which ones experience the peak of technical load, which bring the greatest returns, the exact response time and the limits set for each of them. And flexible platform settings allow you to track and actively manage both flows within the bank's contour and incoming data from partners. This allows you to ensure the operability of all systems and increase the power of some of them in time, increasing throughput.

The platform has at its disposal mechanisms file for exchanging and storing API contracts - an API registry, a debugged pipeline for creating APIs - from the design process to the service service, billing as well as services that allow you to manage the API lifecycle and efficiently allocate resources.

As of February 2023, more than 700 interfaces ready to connect have been published here, including for working with insurance companies, interacting with subsidiaries of VTB Group, lidogeneration, etc.
