2023: Product Tests
On February 20, 2023, it became known about the creation of the Vepr information bomb detection system for the Main Radio Frequency Center (GRCC) subordinate to Roskomnadzor. The platform was developed by the St. Petersburg IT company Neobit, which has been under US sanctions since 2021.
As the representative of the GRCC told Vedomosti, by February 20, 2023, the center is conducting internal tests of the first modules of the Vepr system, the full-scale launch of the platform is scheduled for the second half of 2023.
According to the terms of reference cited by the newspaper, the system will detect messages that could potentially lead to "the implementation of threats to the individual, society and the state." Also, Vepr must identify "socially significant information" that "poses a threat of harm to the life and (or) health of citizens, property, a threat of mass violation of public order and (or) public safety." The cost of development was initially estimated at 60 million rubles, but in the end it was halved and amounted to 30 million rubles.
The representative of Roskomnadzor explained that Vepr IS is designed to identify potential points of tension in the network that can develop into information threats, analyze them, predict the subsequent spread of destructive materials. "
It is specified that "Vepr" with a pattern recognition system with prohibited information Oculus"" are included in the unified system for monitoring the information space.
Experts interviewed by the publication explain that we are talking not only about the search for fakes, but also about predicting the risks from the appearance of certain messages in the info field. They may not always be false, but risk monitoring is necessary to ensure a timely reaction of responsible government agencies.[1]
