2023: Product Announcement

In mid-February 2023, FYR Medical unveiled what it claims is the world's first extended reality digital glasses that use light field technology. The development is designed to reduce the tension and fatigue of the eyes characteristic of most augmented and virtual reality headsets on the market.

The emulated light field transparency technology developed by FYR Medical solves the main problems of existing head displays by reducing eye voltage and allowing viewing in any light, all in a light and thin form factor. The device uses light field technology to improve image quality and is designed to reduce eye tension and fatigue typical of most advanced (XR) and augmented reality (AR) headsets.

The glasses for February 2023 are being integrated with existing computed tomographs, magnetic resonance tomographs, X-ray scanners, simulators and navigation systems. The light field camera from FYR Medical records not the distribution of light in the plane of the actual image of the lens, but the light field created by it. With it, you can recreate the most complete information about the image. Unlike conventional, a light field camera breaks one light beam into a plurality.

FYR Medical's XR digital glasses will primarily be designed for spinal surgery focused on use with existing technology platforms. XR digital glasses will allow the surgeon to see navigation images and patient indicators located almost above the site of the operation. Further applications may include a wide range of operating, training centres and areas of telemedicine. The commercial launch of the XR digital glasses is scheduled for the second half of 2023. The devices will initially be designed for spinal surgery focused on use with existing technology platforms.[1]
