2023: Dismissal from ministry after criticism over Sri  Lanka holiday

First Deputy Minister of Sports of the Ulyanovsk Region Maxim Sobolev resigned after scandalous behavior, which led to a delay in repairs on heating systems. He wrote a letter of resignation of his own free will on February 1, 2023.

According to the 73online.ru portal, the official parked his car in the place where the heating systems were to be repaired, and did not remove it in a timely manner. As a result, 66 residential buildings and 42 social facilities felt the lack of heat: schools, kindergartens, clinics, pharmacies.

A couple of weeks before his dismissal, Sobolev was criticized by the governor of the Ulyanovsk region, Alexei Russkikh, for publishing photos from a vacation in Sri Lanka on social networks. According to Kommersant, the Ethics Commission, headed by the head of the regional governor's administration Vyacheslav Barynin, made a decision against Sobolev to reprimand him with entry into the work book. Such a punishment was chosen, as Barynin noted, based on the scale of the violation: the dismissal would be too harsh, and the remark would be frivolous.

The Minister of Sports of the region Ramil Egorov also said that the punishment of Sobolev was chosen optimal, since he is a "rare frame."

"I stumbled - we will correct him," the minister said.

A 73online.ru source said that Sobolev came to the meeting of the commission "morally depressed."

It was reported that Sobolev left for Sri Lanka to make an offer of hand to the hearts President of the Pylon Federation of the Ulyanovsk Region Marina Erkhova. They published their photos from the rest on social networks, the pictures quickly spread on - Telegram channels.

On January 10, 2023, at a hardware meeting, the governor of the Ulyanovsk region, Alexei Russkikh, criticized officials who went abroad on vacation for the New Year holidays.[1]
