At the end of February 2023, employees of the Changzhou Institute of Mechatronic Technology presented a device for remote kissing in China.

According to the Global Times, the gadget is intended for people who love each other to be able to convey their feelings at a distance only by installing an application for a mobile phone. This high-tech, if unusual, experience is for people in a long-distance relationship who would like to kiss their lover while they are far apart. All you have to do is connect a nozzle to your phone, which is a pair of 3D silicone lips, and kiss it.

Devices for remote kissing

At university, I had a long-distance relationship with my girlfriend, so we only communicated with each other on the phone. Even if you often communicate via video link and correspond a lot, you still lose a significant part of the information about the person - about what he is, for example, "to the touch" or how he smells. That's where the inspiration for this device originated, "said Jiang Zhongli, the device's lead developer.

The device, equipped with pressure sensors and actuators, is able to simulate a real kiss, reproducing the pressure, movement and temperature of the user's lips. Along with the kiss movement, it can also transmit the sound that the user makes.

According to the developers, in order to send a kiss, users need to download the mobile phone application and connect the device to the charging port of their smartphone. After pairing with their partners in the app, couples can start a video call and give each other copies of their kisses. Users for February 2023 can upload their kisses to the app so others can download and try them, as well as kiss strangers anonymously using a special feature. The cost of the product is $43.^[1]
