2023: Sentence - 3 years restriction for death of child

At the end of February 2023, the Novomoskovsk City Court found Polina Kozlova, an anesthesiologist-resuscitator at the Novomoskovsk City Clinical Hospital, guilty of the death of a minor patient. The doctor was sentenced to 2.9 years of restriction of freedom, and was also banned from medical activities for three years.

According to the publication "Tula Press," we are talking about the tragedy in the Kubeeva family. In November 2021, a 3-year-old child was brought to the hospital by ambulance. Doctors decided to give a blood transfusion, which led to the death of the boy: a 28-year-old anesthesiologist-resuscitator, knowing about contraindications for catheterization of the subclavian artery, twice performed the procedure. One of the attempts led to pneumothorax and hemothorax - the accumulation of air and blood in the pleural cavity.

The doctor of the Tula children's hospital received 3 years of restriction of freedom for the death of a child

The child was brought to the Tula Regional Children's Clinical Hospital in a coma. The boy died in intensive care on December 1, 2021.

The examination showed that Polina Kozlova did not agree on the introduction of the catheter with colleagues, did not conduct the necessary X-ray. In addition, the physician could use less risky methods to access the patient's venous channel.

The doctor was accused of causing death by negligence due to improper performance by a person of his professional duties (part 2 of article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

After the verdict, the boy's mother Vlast Kubeeva said the following:

I think it was necessary that she had a criminal record. It is impossible for an unskilled person to hold such a position, and even more so to treat children. So far, everything is fine. But it is still possible and even necessary to butt further. The court gave just 15 days to lodge complaints and appeals. I know that the defense found this verdict cruel and involves filing an appeal. It is possible that this punishment will be slightly reduced. Or maybe they will leave it as it is.[1]
