2023: Start of Contract Deliveries
Kalashnikov began contract deliveries of the Lebedev modular pistol (MPL). The press service of the concern announced this on March 13, 2023.
In the current exposition, we focus on Lebedev's modular pistol. This [2023] year we started its production and carry out the first contract deliveries. Currently, a batch of these products has been handed over to the customer and is undergoing military tests, - said the president of the company Alan Lushnikov. |
MPL and MPL1 pistols are designed to use 9x19 millimeters of ammunition, including 7N21 high-power cartridges. They are equipped with strips for attaching lanterns and laser target designators, replaceable covers on the handle, as well as a magazine with an indication of the number of rounds.
The mass of the MPL (with a magazine without cartridges) is 0.8 kilograms, MPL1 with a low-noise firing device - 1.15 kilograms. The barrel length of pistols is 112 and 127 millimeters, respectively. The capacity of the magazines is 16 rounds.
In parallel with the development and introduction of the MPL, another pistol from the submarine family - the compact Lebedev pistol (PLC) was recommended for adoption by the forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. PLC is designed to replace the outdated Makarov pistol.
As noted in the Kalashnikov concern, despite the fact that Lebedev's modular pistol was developed according to the terms of reference of the Russian Guard, it could potentially interest other law enforcement agencies: improved ergonomics, high modernization potential, as well as the ability to install various add-ons (including attachments, high-capacity magazines, an automatic firing mechanism) allow you to modify a new pistol to perform almost any tactical task.[1]
