At the end of March 2023, it became known about the creation of the Hedgehog ground drone in Russia, which is designed to destroy armored vehicles. This is the development of the design bureau Spectrum Engineering.

As the executive director of the organization Andrei Bratenkov told TASS, the drone created by specialists of the Spektr Engineering company can carry a payload of up to 5 kg. The range reaches 5 km.

Ground drone "Hedgehog"

Among other things, this drone can remain mobile, no matter how it is turned over. It is planned to use it as a platform for the destruction of enemy armored vehicles and manpower, which is located in the trenches, - said Bratenkov.

He clarified that the Hedgehog is being created so that when the situation on the battlefield worsens, the servicemen can launch a drone from the trench towards the enemy, which would deliver a mine, or give ammunition "under the belly" to the enemy's armored vehicles.

The executive director of KB Spectrum Engineering also clarified that the new drone is wheeled.

The caterpillar formula is technically more expensive to perform. In addition, on small-sized forms, the caterpillar has no effect at all, it will be necessary to make incredible grousers. There is dirt on the battlefield, or construction debris. The wheel platform has a geometric patency much higher. This is the best option in terms of process cost and survivability, "the specialist emphasized in a conversation with the news agency.

The design bureau also announced the development of a series of unmanned aerial vehicles for a wide range of applications. They are designed to destroy armored vehicles. Fire tests of drones are scheduled for the spring of 2023.^[1]
