2023: Cardiac Monitor Announcement

In early March 2023, at the annual Congress of the American College of Cardiology (ACC), iRhythm Technologies spoke about the new wearable heart monitor Zio XT. It is claimed that this device functions more efficiently and faster than other similar devices.

Zio XT is a disposable portable device that can be used in both inpatient and outpatient treatment. device relates to long-acting cardiac monitors (LTCM). The patient can wear the device for up to 14 days. The generation of notifications and regular reports is not provided - the accumulated data is uploaded after the expiration of the prescribed wearing period.

To compare the effectiveness of various cardiac monitors, experts analyzed information about almost 288 thousand patients who received outpatient devices in 2017 and 2018. Most of them (54%) were provided with Holter monitors to take readings around the clock.

Zio XT users reportedly had a higher diagnostic score than other devices, including competing LTCM devices. iRhythm, in particular, claims that its device is capable of recording 99% of arrhythmias over a 14-day period, while the Holter monitor records only 47% of such events in two days. In addition, the Zio XT has a small size and weight, and therefore creates less discomfort for patients while wearing. It is noted that other LTCM devices were 20% less likely to detect a specific arrhythmia and 3.51 times more likely to require reuse within 180 days compared to Zio XT. During the prescribed period of use, the Zio XT does not require changing the power supply or changing the position of the electrodes.[1]
