Tele2 will try to replace SAP ERP with "1C." A two-year pilot project is being prepared

Customers: T2 RTK Holding (formerly Tele2 Russia AB, Tele2)

Moscow; Telecommunications and Communications

Project date: 2023/04

At the end of March 2023, Tele2 announced a tender to select a consulting services provider for the 1C pilot, designed for two years[1]. The maximum price that the company is ready to pay for these services is 41.5 million rubles.

Tele2 told TAdviser that they plan to pilot key business processes: as a result, the company will be able to decide on the applicability of the 1C solution as an ERP system.

Tele2 plans to investigate how import-substituted enterprise resource management systems are ready to support the company's existing and promising business processes. This is critically important in the context of the termination of support for the existing system by the vendor who stopped working in Russia, - said TAdviser in Tele2.

SAP, we recall, in 2022, against the background of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, gradually curtailed its business in Russia, and in January 2023, due to a new package of European sanctions, disconnected Russian customers from vendor technical support.

SAP ERP has been used in Tele2 since 2014, when, against the background of the merger of mobile assets of Rostelecom and Tele2, a system was needed that would combine different companies with different accounting systems and processes used at that time. SAP ERP was fully implemented, including modules for real estate management, value and risk management, project portfolio management, etc.

Judging by what representatives of the company had previously said, at that time Tele2 did not consider 1C at all as an option. In 2017, Elena Bebeshko, head of the Tele2 methodology service, said that such a large business as Tele2, then could only support the solutions of SAP, Oracle and Microsoft Dynamics[2].

However, in some places Tele2 still uses "1C": for example, a specialized solution "1C: Retail 8. Store of household appliances and communications "in 2016 was introduced in the retail network[3] "[4]. Based on this product, Tele2 automated accounting for all transactions in its retail: ordering goods to the supplier and their receipt from the counterparty, moving goods between warehouses and stores, issuing returns from customers, etc.

In parallel with the announcement of the tender in March 2023, new vacancies from Tele2 appeared on the HH recruiting portal, related to 1C[5]. For example, the company is looking for a head of the department for the integration of financial accounting processes, who will have to coordinate the project for the implementation of the 1C information system by the financial function, participate in the development of functional requirements in the information system in accordance with IFRS and RAS standards, etc.
