2023: Product Announcement

In early April 2023, it became known about the creation of quantum cascade lasers in Russia. Thanks to the ability to qualitatively and quantitatively detect chemical compounds, new generation emitters can be used in promising diagnostic complexes, inspection equipment, eco-monitoring, space research and other areas, the Rostec press service reports.

The project is being implemented by the holding Schwabe"" (part of Rostec), its subsidiary Research Institute Pole"" named after M.F. Stelmakh and. Russian Academy of Sciences Quantum cascade lasers operating in the middle, long wave and terahertz ranges, in particular, can significantly increase the efficiency of inspection complexes, spectroscopy and gas analysis procedures, imaging and remote sensing and even food quality control.

Such promising technologies help doctors search for markers of various socially significant diseases, says Oleg Yevtushenko, industrial director of Rostec. According to him, quantum cascade lasers can also find application in astronomical experiments, for example, in studies on the content of atomic oxygen in interstellar space.

The applications of quantum cascade lasers are very extensive. Cooperation with the Russian Academy of Sciences in the field of creating unique emitters will help advance in the development of equipment also for the gas and oil industry, ecology, astronomy, biology, other industries and science, he added.
