2023: Product Announcement

On April 6, 2023, a group of specialists from the Scientific and Technical University of China and the National University of Singapore announced the development of a new method for creating dynamic three-dimensional holographic projections of ultra-high definition.

The proposed technology is called 3D-SDH. Researchers note that the formation of a realistic holographic image of three-dimensional objects requires high-resolution projection onto a large number of consecutive planes or layers located close to each other. This allows you to achieve great detail in depth. The new method, it is claimed, makes it possible to raise the depth resolution by more than three orders of magnitude compared to modern technologies of multi-plane holographic projection.

A new method has been developed for creating dynamic three-dimensional holographic projections of ultra-high definition

Creating a dynamic holographic projection typically requires the use of a spatial light modulator to vary the intensity and/or phase of the light beam. However, modern means do not allow the creation of high-definition holograms, since spatial modulation technologies make it possible to project only a small number of low-resolution images.

Scientists have solved the described problem by combining a spatial modulator with a light diffuser. This approach allows you to divide many layers of images much more efficiently. In addition, the new method provides for the suppression of cross interference between planes. As a result, it becomes possible to form a three-dimensional holographic projection of ultra-high definition. The technology can be used, in particular, to create holograms of people. Potential applications include virtual reality platforms and other next-generation interactive applications.[1]
