2023: Service Launch

On April 12, 2023, the official launch of the Russian analogue of the Downdetector service took place. Called "Monitoring Failures," it will monitor the state of resources based on messages from users who may complain about a problem in the operation of an online bank application, Internet service or telecom operator. The service works on the new website of the Center for Monitoring and Management of the Public Communication Network (CMU SSOP).

Public Communication Network Monitoring and Management Center has launched a public user portal... The service "Monitoring failures" has been launched on the site. It was created as an alternative to the foreign resource of downdetector.com, which ceased to analyze Russian Internet resources after the start of the SVO [special military operation - approx. TAdviser], - said in the message of the "Main Radio Frequency Center" (GRCC).

Users of the Monitoring Failures platform will be able to leave messages about the inoperability of Internet services, banking applications and telecom operators, as well as monitor the stability of their functioning and study the geography of recorded problems. The GRCC explained that based on user messages, a thermal map of failures will be formed on the portal, with the help of which you can monitor the performance of services in different Russian regions. Thus, with the help of the service, users can find out whether there was a massive failure or a single error, the GRCC explained.

The portal also launched a special service for specialized specialists - Looking Glass, which makes it possible to get information about IP addresses, autonomous systems and optimal traffic routes. The key feature of the service is the use of route information directly from all Russian telecom operators through the SSOP CMU monitoring information system. This allows you to obtain reliable data on the route to the network of interest from the point of view of any Russian operator, the GRCC explained, noting that the data within this tool is provided in real time.[1]
