MTS RED: Service for encryption of communication channels based on GOST cryptographic algorithms

MTS RED offers Russian companies a service for encrypting communication channels based on GOST cryptographic algorithms for building and operating secure networks. The service allows you to organize secure interaction between geographically distributed objects and fulfill the requirements of Russian legislation in the field of information security. This was announced on April 13, 2023 by the MTS ecosystem.

The service ensures the confidentiality and integrity of data when it is transmitted over open communication channels. The implementation of these information protection functions is required by organizations whose activities are related to the processing and transfer of personal data and other confidential information. Such organizations, for example, are state and municipal institutions, banks and insurance companies and companies-subjects of critical information infrastructure and others.

When creating secure corporate communication channels, companies usually resort to the implementation of a comprehensive project, which includes the design, purchase of equipment, commissioning and maintenance of the system during its life cycle. Projects to implement certified cryptographic information protection tools (CIPF) often involve a lack of qualified personnel necessary for round-the-clock support of solutions, difficulties with their configuration and operation, as well as compliance with all regulatory requirements. In addition, the implementation of such projects is a licensed activity, which limits the number of system integrators who have the right to implement CIPF from customers, and leads to an increase in the cost of services in this area.

The service model for the supply of communication channel protection technology provides customers with a number of advantages compared to the independent implementation of the solution. MTS RED helps to meet the requirements of regulators, relieve the burden on personnel and reduce costs: procurement, equipment redundancy, software update and technical support remain on the side of MTS RED.

To provide the service of encryption of communication channels, information cryptographic protection tools certified by the FSB of Russia (CIPF) up to the level of KS-3 inclusive are used, which guarantees a high level of protection and ensures compliance with the requirements of the federal laws "On Personal Data" (No. 152-FZ) and "On the Security of Critical Information Infrastructure" (No. 187-FZ).
