Tele2 on April 17, 2023 announced that it was launching a recommendation service for corporate training of company employees. The system, which was developed at Tele2 to solve the internal tasks of the team, helps to choose the most relevant educational material from more than 300 courses on the corporate educational platform.

In 2022, Tele2 changed its approach to corporate training - they switched from planning courses and trainings for the entire calendar year to a situational choice of educational activities for specific professional tasks.

Based on the results of an internal study, Tele2 transformed the traditional corporate training catalog into a marketplace format so that employees could find it convenient, quickly get the necessary training and continue to apply it in practice.

As a result of the changes, the completion of online trainings in 2022 increased by 10 pp year-on-year and averaged 91%. After updating the corporate portal, the company decided to help employees with the choice of the necessary courses and began to develop a recommendation service. This approach is used on marketplaces and is familiar to the user.

At the stage of testing the recommendation model, big data Tele2 specialists divided the users of the training portal into two groups. The first group is employees who have already completed at least 2 courses, in addition to compulsory training. The recommendation service analyzes their preferences and the choice of colleagues and provides a selection of courses that are potentially interesting to the user. The second group is employees who did not actively interact with the platform or took only introductory courses. Such users received a set with suggestions about what they could like: new items, popular content and what colleagues in the function passed.

According to the test results, employees from both groups who received personal recommendations began to learn more and complete courses by 6 pp in just 3 months more often than their colleagues who did not receive a selection of courses. After launching the service for the entire company, employees will receive personal recommendations by work mail once a month.
