The Face.com technology is capable, having analyzed parts of the person in the photo, it is nine times out of ten correct to identify the person represented on it. If necessary, applying the same technology, images of the same person can be found in Network — for example, on photohostings.
Gil Hirsh, the chief executive officer of the company, said that among possible scope of Face.com — automatic identification of people in areas of accidents.
History
Face.com was founded in 2007.
In 2009 the company attracted investments in the amount of $1 million from five investors, including own founders and the Israeli fund Rhodium specializing in the venture and angel investments.
The startup of Face.com purchased broad popularity after placement by it on social network Facebook of recognition application of persons in photos and the followed publication in Telegraph in August, 2010.
After API Face.com became available to third-party developers, the Gizmodo edition called Face.com "revolution in the field of shadowing", and the representative of Privacy International Simon Davies, said that the fact of free distribution of this technology shows that the law protects privacy of the personality in Network insufficiently.
On September 27, 2010 it became known that "Yandex", Rhodium investment company and several private investors invested $4.3 million in the Israeli company Face.com. This round of investments — the second for a startup.
