2023: Product Announcement

On May 2, 2023, Rostec announced the start of production of the first Russian miniature microphones for special services. We are talking about a MKE-396 model produced at the Octava plant (under the management of RT-Capital, it is part of Rostec).

According to the press service of the state corporation, the electret capacitor microphone (ECM) is a device that can work without a high-voltage power supply thanks to the use of an electret. This material contains a constant current charge, so one AA battery is enough for the microphone to operate normally.

MKE-396 is an improved version of the MKE-394 model previously produced on the Octava, intended for the needs of the Russian Navy and Civil Fleet. The new microphone is smaller than its predecessor in size and better in sound characteristics (intelligibility and clarity of speech).

According to Alexander Nazarov, Deputy General Director of Rostec, thanks to the small size of only 6 mm and the ability to maintain charge without a network, microphones are MKE-396 indispensable, in particular, in the work of specialists from the Russian special services. In the civilian segment, the acoustic products of the Tula enterprise will be able to completely replace imported samples of miniature electret microphones, which occupied 100% of the Russian market, he said. Nazarov also added that every year Octava plans to produce about 10 thousand products.

After a long break, the Octava plant again began to produce EKM. This became possible thanks to the transition to a different technological structure, the acquisition of new and the revival of old competencies, - said the general director of the Octava plant Pavel Pavlenko, whose words are quoted by the Rostec press service[1]
