2023: In the Rostov region, a representative of a pharmaceutical company was detained for selling potent substances

Police in the Rostov region detained a representative of a pharmaceutical company while trying to sell a potent substance. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation announced this in early May 2023.

Employees of Department No. 5 of the Drug Control Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Rostov Region received information that a local resident organized the illegal sale of a potent drug banned for free circulation in the city of Rostov-on-Don.

Tropicamide is available in the form of eye drops

It is noted that as a result of operational-search measures, police officers detained a 31-year-old representative of a wholesale pharmaceutical company, who tried to sell 120 white bottles. The study found that the seized contains a potent substance tropicamide.

During the examination of the defendant's vehicle, a cardboard package containing 240 vials of a potent drug prepared for further sale was found and seized by police officers in the luggage compartment.

According to the study certificate of the ECC of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Rostov Region, the substance presented for the study is tropicamide with a total weight of 2448 grams.

According to the materials of the operatives, the investigative unit of the police department No. 7 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Rostov-on-Don opened a criminal case against the attacker under part 3 of article 234 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Illegal trafficking of potent or poisonous substances for marketing purposes." He was chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention. The name of the detainee and the name of the pharmaceutical company in which he works are not specified by the beginning of May 2023.[1]
