2019: Upgrade of a corporate system of management

On July 24, 2019 the Mosvodokanal company announced upgrade of the platform on the optimized hardware and software systems Oracle Exadata Database Machine with a corporate information system of management of Oracle E-Business Suite.

For ensuring the best controllability of divisions of the company, higher transparency and stability of business processes in 2008 JSC Mosvodokanal started implementation of the long-term project of implementation of the Corporate Information System of Management (CISM) on the Oracle E-Business Suite platform. During its implementation there was a need for significant increase in server capacities as it was decided to consolidate a number of business processes which were executed before in 15 divisions of the company. It demanded formation of the normative reference information and consolidation of databases.

With growth of number of users and amount of data several times there was a need for additional server capacities. In expansion of the previous experience of use Oracle Exadata at the beginning of 2019 two hardware and software systems were purchased. Among the first results of upgrade there is performance improvement of infrastructure for Oracle E-Business Suite up to 2-3 times.

For July, 2019 in Mosvodokanal on Exadata the Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle BI Suite systems function that helps to solve everyday problems of business users.

2012: Acquisition of the Oracle Exadata complexes

In 2012 the Mosvodokanal company purchased two Oracle Exadata complexes. One was set in the main Data processing center, the second – in reserve. Transition to Exadata allowed to increase infrastructure performance for Oracle E-Business Suite to 3-4 times and to close requirements of Mosvodokanal for capacities for seven years, up to 2019.

2008: Implementation of KISU on the Oracle E-Business Suite platform

The project in MGUP "Mosvodokanal" is relevant for most the enterprises of the Russian housing and utilities sector. In 2011 the Oracle corporation recognized it the Best project in the field of transformation and business process automation in the field of housing and public utilities. During implementation of Oracle applications the capital water utility carried out reorganization of business processes of logistics, accounting, repairs and implemented key performance indicators on each process. The single system of management covers finance, logistics, repairs, treasury. Further development of works is planned in the HR directions, project management, the normative reference information.

The IBS company started in 2008 the project on creation of the complex information management system on the basis of Oracle E-Business Suite in MGUP "Mosvodokanal", the housing and public utilities enterprise, largest in Russia. The Mosvodokanal unitary enterprise provides the population of Moscow with drinking water and services the water disposal system. The enterprise consists of 13 divisions with the total number of workers more than 12 thousand people.

According to project participants, it should become one of the first and largest ERP projects of Oracle in the field of water supply and water disposal. According to Alexey Tretyakov, the director of information technology and the project manager of implementation from MGUP "Mosvodokanal", the project promises to be long and resource-intensive. He will have to solve the imminent problems of unification of the separate information systems developed on different platforms and which are not allowing to work with the considerable and promptly increasing amount of data long ago. Besides, according to Alexey Tretyakov, "operation of the existing systems leads to unfairly high labor costs of personnel connected with complexity of search of the information required, repeated data entry in the adjacent systems, ensuring completeness and consistency of information, preparation of analytical cuts of data for decision support of the management in scales of all enterprise".

The strategy of development for information technologies of Mosvodokanal was developed by MTsFER-consulting company and approved in July, 2007. The pilot ERP project covers central office of management, management of logistics and marketing, management of resource providing and production management of Mosvodopodgotovk. Within the project implementation of modules of management of finance, purchase managements and warehouse stocks and also system deployment of management of maintenance and repairs of the equipment is performed.

During preparation for implementation project IT infrastructure was created, the architecture of a server subsystem is developed, the necessary equipment is set up and brought into operation. At the central office of the enterprise the failsafe cluster solution providing automatic recovery of operability of a system at failures in operation of the equipment is deployed.

The project provides that holding the centralized application campaign on purchase of logistics for all thirteen divisions of Mosvodokanal will be performed within a new management system. The beginning of productive operation it is planned for December, 2008. During the first quarter 2009 works on maintenance of commercial operation of a system should be performed. Further expansion of a functional scope of a system and replication of results of a pilot project in other separate divisions of the company is supposed.
