2023: System Announcement

On May 10, 2023, it became known that the Chinese corporation Tencent completed the construction of the first stage of the world's largest data center (DPC). The site is focused on resource-intensive loads, including those associated with new generation neural network algorithms.

The so-called Center for Advanced Computing in Artificial Intelligence is located in the Yangtze River Delta. In addition to Tencent, the Shanghai Songjiang District Administration is involved in the implementation of the project. By the beginning of May 2023, the construction of four data center buildings was completed; in the future, the infrastructure of the complex will expand.

Tencent Data Center Project

As part of the first phase, at least 10 thousand servers were put into operation - they operate in an uninterrupted mode. In addition, the necessary cooling equipment is installed. After the completion of the construction of the complex, the total number of servers will reach approximately 800 thousand, and the total computing power of the site will be 10 times more than that of the world's most powerful supercomputer center. The amount of investment in the project of the Center for Advanced Computing in the field of artificial intelligence is not reported.

The new data center will provide cloud computing services to the public, including instant messaging, image processing, and health insurance-related operations. The data center will also support the Tencent HunyanAide AI service, an alternative to the ChatGPT chatbot.

In the future, more than 100 enterprises of the Tencent ecosystem will open their divisions in the industrial park being created. They include artificial intelligence labs Keen Lab, YouTu and Weilink, software developer DHC Software, taxi-ordering company T3 Mobility and cloud service provider Alauda.[1]
