Micron Biomedical: Injection Patch

On May 10, 2023, the medical and biological company Micron Biomedical announced the release of an innovative device for transdermal administration of drugs into the body. We are talking about the technology of needle-free delivery of substances, which does not create painful sensations and discomfort for patients.

The patented solution is a specialized biochip - a special patch with microneedles that is glued to the skin. After application, the microneedles penetrate painlessly into the upper layers of the tissue and dissolve rapidly, thereby releasing the drug or vaccine. After a few minutes, the patch can be removed. The proposed concept allows patients to conduct such injections on their own - with little or no prior training.

Micron Biomedical Series A Patches

Because microneedles only penetrate the upper layers of the skin, they do not reach deeper nerve endings, making the procedure painless. In addition, the technology allows you to increase the efficiency of drug delivery and save their consumption. The solution ensures thermal stability of encapsulated drugs and other substances used. Microneedle patches are suitable for a wide range of active and inactive compounds.

Micron Biomedical reportedly raised an additional $3 million from J2 Ventures as part of its Series A funding round. Thus, the total amount of funding at this stage reached $17 million. The funds were also provided by Global Health Investment Corporation (GHIC), LTS Lohmann and GRA Venture Fund. The money raised will be used to promote needle-free drug delivery technology on the international market. The tests conducted, as noted, demonstrate the clinical effectiveness of the Micron Biomedical solution and the high level of patient satisfaction.^[1]
