Blockchain system for quick payment of jet fuel launched at Sheremetyevo airport

Sheremetyevo Airport has connected to the Smart Fuel blockchain system. Gazprom Neft (its subsidiary Gazpromneft-Aero - has developed this platform) announced this in mid-May 2023.

It is noted that the digital system allows you to instantly pay for refueling "to the wing." With the help of the blockchain platform of the Gazpromneft-Aero jet fuel enterprise, Smartavia aircraft will be serviced at the Moscow airport.

According to the press service of Gazprom Neft, when using the Smart Fuel platform, the time of settlements between the fuel operator and the airline is reduced from 4-5 days to 15 seconds, and the interval of inter-flight service of aircraft - by 10%.

The oil company stressed that the order of refueling, payment and exchange of documents take place online: information about operations is received on the airline's flight mission and in the digital accounting system at fuel tankers, and transaction data is confirmed by the participants in the process and stored in the blockchain system.

A completely new approach to the process of refueling aircraft is of particular importance to the airline - it allows you to make the process fast, transparent and modern. Cooperation with Gazpromneft-Aero within the framework of this project is an excellent example of how the airline, using advanced digital technologies, increases its efficiency, - said Sergey Chernyshev, General Director of Smartavia.

Gazpromneft-Aero added that by mid-May 2023, the Smart Fuel platform is available at 18 airports in Russia. Thanks to the expanded functionality, Smart Fuel has a high potential for scaling in the Russian jet fuel industry, said Vladimir Egorov, General Director of Gazpromneft-Aero.
