2023: Rosneft introduced unique software for fuel and energy complex enterprises

On May 31, 2023, the Russian oil and gas company Rosneft demonstrated the capabilities of its own software focused on the enterprises of the fuel and energy complex.

It is stated that the developed solutions cover all key processes of oil and gas production: these are, in particular, production tasks in the field of geology, design, development and operation of fields. In total, 23 software products have been created, 10 products have been launched on the foreign market, another 3 products will be launched on the market in 2023-2024. Own developments, according to Rosneft, surpass foreign counterparts in speed and the list of tasks to be solved. Modern algorithms and an understandable interface are implemented.

Rosneft presented software for fuel and energy complex enterprises

One of the unique solutions is the first industrial hydraulic fracturing simulator "RN-GRID" in Eurasia. The development provides technological independence in the field of computer modeling, which is mandatory for the use of frac technology. As of the beginning of 2023, more than 600 commercial licenses for the use of this software complex have been implemented. In addition, an agreement was concluded on the supply of RN-GRID to China.

The development of a line of knowledge-intensive software for oil engineering is not a short-term activity associated with the current fashion trend for universal digitalization, not an activity aimed solely at making a profit, but is a contribution to the oil and gas industry, a way to jointly accumulate and preserve knowledge, and provide the oil and gas industry with sovereign engineering software critical for functioning - noted Alexander Pashali, Director of the Department of Scientific and Technical Development and Innovation of Rosneft.

Today, a new product of Rosneft, RN-VEGA, is being prepared for commercialization: the software carries out the entire process of interpreting hydrodynamic well studies (GDIS), from the preparation of "raw" data to the issuance of an opinion. The software allows you to determine the most important properties of the formation, for example, pressure and permeability. The data obtained help to accurately predict the well operation after geological and technological measures, as well as make operational decisions in managing the development of the field. Among the advantages of the product are high indicators of the speed and accuracy of the mathematical core, as well as support for all types of GDIS.

In addition, the RN-Drilling Calculations package has been announced for well design and construction. This software platform makes it possible to plan well trajectories, analyze the risks of their intersection and assess the stability of the drill string. Software capabilities include hydraulic calculations, prediction of cuttings carry-over, design of attachment processes and automated creation of reporting documentation. The software integrates with other digital products of Rosneft, so that specialists can carry out a full cycle of work using exclusively corporate software.

It is noted that eight Rosneft software systems are included in the Unified Register of Russian Programs for Electronic Computers and Databases. Thus, these products can be applied in government agencies and companies with state participation. The software is compatible with Russian operating systems on the Linux kernel.

According to Alexey Pestrikov, manager of the innovative projects department of Rosneft, the company has been creating its own software since 2005, replacing foreign solutions.

In projects to create software, we use a flexible development methodology, this allows us to quickly take into account the wishes of users and quickly get high-quality products. Our IT developments today are almost 80% replaced by foreign software. We are working hard to make the software available to everyone, "he added.
