2023: Russian 'digital attachés' appointed in 6 countries

Russian "digital attachés" have been appointed in 6 countries: Malaysia, Argentina, Vietnam, South Africa, China and Cuba. This was announced on May 31, 2023 by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. According to him, four more candidates - Kazakhstan, the UAE, Turkey and Uzbekistan - are awaiting the final stage of the competitive selection.

As noted by the Deputy Head of the Government of the Russian Federation, in order to qualitatively promote Russian IT products abroad, the Russian Fund for the Development of Information Technologies (RFRIT) organizes information and educational events for "digital attaches," which include visiting the offices of IT companies and industries.

Russia has appointed "digital attachés" in 6 countries

On June 1, 2023, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that in the near future, "digital attaches" will appear at Russian trade missions in 26 countries, which will support the export of Russian software. He called the implementation of the export potential of Russia - one of the priority vectors of development.

And we have created a special mechanism that will help expand the presence of Russian IT companies in foreign markets. We are talking about the so-called service of "digital attaches," which will work at trade missions in foreign countries, - said Mishustin.

According to him, many domestic developments can be successfully applied not only in Russia, but also in friendly countries.

It was assumed that in 2022 "digital attachés" will begin working in 16 countries of the world. In the future, the geography of their presence will expand - in 2024 it was planned to 28 countries of presence.

RFRIT organizes information and educational events for "digital attaches," which include visiting the offices of IT companies and industries. As Chernyshenko said, in 2022, the REC Export School (Russian Export Center), IIDF (Internet Initiatives Development Fund), Rosatom, VK, and others became partners of the digital attache advanced training program.[1]
