2023: Opening of Simulation Center

On June 7, 2023, a simulation center was opened in Moscow to teach skills in professional care for the elderly and people with disabilities. Such an institution is the first in Russia. It began to work on the basis of the Scientific and Practical Gerontopsychiatric Center, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, who took part in the opening ceremony of the facility, said on his Telegram channel.

The center will be engaged in employees of social houses, social workers and Muscovites, whose relatives need constant help. Listeners will learn how to choose the means of rehabilitation, properly feed, move and communicate with the elderly. All this will significantly increase the quality of life of people with limited mobility and their families, Sobyanin noted.

In the center, 3 residential buildings were repaired. 518 people in need of special care will live and undergo social rehabilitation. Residential buildings are adapted for the living of people with limited mobility, there are all conditions: comfortable rooms, showers, studios and creative workshops, medical units.

For more than two years, we have been modernizing former neuropsychiatric boarding schools. We turn them into open and friendly social houses. To do this, employees undergo retraining and advanced training, and in old neuropsychiatric boarding schools we are doing repairs, - wrote the mayor of Moscow in his Telegram channel.

Earlier in 2023, it was reported that about 1 million people with disabilities live in Moscow. At the moment, the barrier-free environment in the city has been formed in most of the socially significant objects of the city. Boarding houses are reformatted into "social houses," where people are cared for according to world standards, taking into account the peculiarities of a particular person.[1]
