Cisco Application Velocity

Cisco announced on October 5, 2010 performance improvement, expansion of opportunities of virtualization and improvement of the network technologies considering features of applications using new network service under the name Application Velocity (letters. - speed of applications). This service implemented at the level of routers with the integrated Cisco ISR services became a crucial element of architecture of Cisco for networks without borders (Cisco Borderless Networks architecture) since has crucial value for the organizations implementing the latest technology developments - "cloud" infrastructure, the virtual desktop systems and integrated wire - wireless networks.

As the companies deliver applications to promptly growing number of the "smart" mobile devices which are in the most different points there was a need to integrate data processing centers, networks and terminal units in the single system capable to deliver multimedia data with high quality without prejudice to performance. This task is also executed by the Application Velocity service adding a unique set of innovations to the Cisco ISR platform of the second generation. Application Velocity maintains optimal functionality for users, allowing them to work with any application using any device at any time. It is reached due to the built-in technologies considering features of applications in the network connecting applications of DPC to the user devices. In the current version of Application Velocity the company implemented a number of the new technologies intended for acceleration of applications, reliability augmentation of networks and approval of work of DPC and the user solutions:

• Cisco WAAS Express is the new solution for optimization of global networks based on the software of Cisco IOS® and which is built in Cisco ISR G2 routers. It represents an economic alternative to operator managed services for the small and medium enterprises. Optimization of the TCP protocol, a compression of contents of network packets and liquidation of duplication of data allow the solution Cisco WAAS Express to double available bandwidth and to increase performance of applications. Ease of use of Cisco WAAS Express and availability of this solution on demand considerably reduce current expenses of the customer.
• Cisco WAAS for ISR G2 Services-Ready Engine (SRE) - the service of acceleration of applications which is built in the router and optimization of global networks on demand. This service helps corporate departments to optimize work of resource-intensive applications and is especially useful to the applications sensitive to delays (for example, to video). In addition, it allows IT departments to increase load of channels of global networks.
• The solution Cisco Unified Communications System Express extends a scope of architecture of Cisco for unified communications from a data processing center to corporate branch, providing the complex virtualization, best in the industry. Cisco UCS Express allows customers to start any Windows application or VMware on the module ISR G2 SRE without the application server.
