2023: Launch of additional classes for doctors to rehabilitate patients with exoskeletons
In early June 2023, it became known about the launch of elective classes for doctors to rehabilitate patients with exoskeletons, in particular with the Exar-34 exoskeleton of the upper limbs. The project is being implemented at the National Medical University of Volgograd. This was announced by the director of the Federal Center for Support of the Development and Production of Exoprostheses Evgeny Zozulya.
According to him, classes are part of postgraduate vocational education for graduates who have received diplomas and become residents, as well as for doctors who have improved their qualifications. Zozulya added that they will coordinate their actions with the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation to introduce this educational program in other medical colleges in the country.
Research on exoskeletons at Volgograd statemedical University began in 2013, and already in 2020, by order of the president Russia Vladimir Putin , an innovation center for the creation of exoskeletons was opened at the university to adapt and fully restore lost motor functions. The most famous and popular device created by Volgograd scientists is the Exar-34 exoskeleton of hands.
The Exar-34 exoskeleton of the upper limb for June 2023 has already helped hundreds of patients with upper flaccid para-monoparesis syndrome caused by a variety of diseases. With the support of the presidential grant "Exar-34" is provided free of charge to wounded soldiers of the Russian Army, as well as children living in the LPR and DPR. In addition to exoskeletons of the hands, Volgograd scientists have developed and patented exoskeletons of the neck and jaw, as well as special exoskeletons for surgeons and neurosurgeons, allowing them to make operations in difficult cases more comfortable and accurate.[1]
