2023: Glucometer announcement

In mid-June 2023, Brain Beat introduced a non-invasive glucometer based on bloodless and painless measurement of radiation in the optical region of the glucose absorption spectrum. The measurement speed is 30 seconds.

According to the developers, the uniqueness of a device called Edvais lies in non-invasive spectroscopic measurement of blood glucose, based on specially designed algorithms that take into account a wide range of possible errors. This method makes it possible to avoid the mistakes of most competitors who did not take into account the influence on the measuring results of the main components of blood and skin, for example water and melanin.

The first tests and studies of the glucometer were carried out in medical clinics in St. Petersburg and Puerto Rico. This geography made it possible to analyze the work of the meter in people with light and dark skin color, noted in the company "Brain Bit."

In medicine, infrared spectroscopy is used as a tool for studying tissue biochemistry. IR spectroscopy, in particular, is sensitive to the structure and concentration of macromolecules (proteins, DNA) and is much less applicable for detecting small molecules that are in cells at a low concentration. Changes in the IR spectra of biological materials indicate pathologies associated with a violation of the biochemical composition of the sample. For example, cancer changes are often associated with the presence of multiple nuclei in the cell. Accordingly, infrared spectroscopy shows diagnostic changes associated with enhanced uptake of nucleic acids.

The Edvais device weighs 150 grams and is powered by an 800mAh battery. The device can be connected to a smartphone to monitor indicators.[1]
