Branches of SO UES JSC ODU of the Urals and the Orenburg RDU together with the Hevel group of companies put into commercial operation a remote control system for the operation of the Grigoryevskaya solar power plant (SES). Hevel announced this on June 20, 2023.

Grigoryevskaya SES with an installed capacity of 10 MW became the fourth solar power plant of the Orenburg region, which implemented a project for remote control of operating modes from the dispatch center of the System Operator. The total installed capacity of SES in the power system of the Orenburg region is 370 MW, of which 90 MW are controlled using remote control systems.

The SES remote control system was put into operation after the successful completion of pilot operation, which has been carried out since the beginning of 2023. During testing, operations were carried out to change the active and reactive power, as well as completely disconnect the station from the network with the subsequent supply of voltage and automatic restoration of the operation mode of the generating equipment.

Remote control of the active and reactive power of the SES makes it possible to speed up bringing the parameters of the electric power regime of the region's power system to the permissible limits, which is especially important for the prevention and elimination of emergencies. This technology increases the reliability and quality of power supply to consumers of the Orenburg region, especially when passing the daily maximum consumption of electric energy at high air temperatures in the summer.

Within the framework of the project, the System Operator and the Hevel group of companies implemented a set of technical measures, including the modernization of the automated process control system (APCS) of the power plant, the organization of channels for transmitting remote control commands in compliance with information security requirements, as well as appropriate tests.

The implementation of remote control of the SES operating modes, along with other projects for the introduction of remote control and monitoring systems, is another real step towards the digitalization of power.
