Rusagro decided to switch from SAP SuccessFactors to the Russian human resources system

Rusagro, one of the largest agricultural holdings in Russia, decided to get rid of SAP SuccessFactors used in the company. In June 2023, Rusagro held a re-tender on the request of commercial proposals from suppliers for the provision of HR system implementation services (HRMS) for its group of companies in order to replace the previously implemented system of the German vendor[1]

The published SOW states that the purpose of implementing the centralized HRMS of the Rusagro system is to reduce the risks of stopping/disrupting personnel management processes and increase import independence by replacing the existing SAP SuccessFactors platform with a Russian solution. Among the goals are also improving the UX and ergonomics of the system, optimizing the cost of ownership.

The project should cover all business areas of the Rusagro group: fat and fat, sugar, meat, agricultural. The estimated number of users of the centralized personnel management system is all employees of the group of companies, the total number of which is up to 22 thousand employees.

The main SAP SuccessFactors function modules used include:

  • Organizational Management, Employee Data Maintenance, and SAP SF Employee Central
  • Benefits and Rewards (SAP SF Compensation);
  • Recruitment (SAP SF Recruiting Management)
  • Personnel Adaptation (SAP SF Recruiting Management)
  • Personnel Goals Management (SAP SF Performance & Goals Management)
  • Talent Management (SAP SF Succession & Development);
  • Training Management (SAP SF Learning)

And the new system should cover the following functional areas:

  • Organizational management;
  • Collecting and maintaining employee data;
  • Personnel activities (receptions, transfers, layoffs, long absences, including exemption of replacement rates);
  • Benefits and Rewards Management;
  • Recruitment;
  • Personnel adaptation;
  • Goal setting and evaluation of personnel;
  • Personnel reserve and personnel development;
  • Training management.
  • Analytics and Reporting;
  • Workflows and customization tools.

Within the framework of the project, it is planned to introduce a fully functional replacement of this system, according to the terms of reference. However, the specific decision that Rusagro would like to switch to is not indicated there. One of the requirements for the product is that it should be included in the register of domestic software.

It follows from the terms of reference that Rusagro uses Human Resources 1C: Payroll (1C: RM) in parallel with SAP SuccessFactors. With the latter, integration should be carried out as part of the transition to the Russian solution.

The total duration of the works shall not exceed 12 calendar months from the date of signing the contract. As part of the survey, it is necessary to determine critical functionality, it should be put into trial operation no later than January 31, 2024.

Rusagro reported on the digital transformation of the HR block based on SAP SuccessFactors in May 2021. The project of introducing this system in the agricultural holding lasted 1.5 years. In October of that 2021, the company received the Rusagro SAP Value Award for it[2].
