2023: Tool Release

In early May 2023, Privacy4Cars released a free Vehicle Privacy Report tool to provide privacy reports. The service allows car owners to find out what data is collected from their cars, how they are used and to whom they are sent.

According to Vice's Motherboard, various car companies collect a huge amount of data about drivers and their trips, but do not always disclose how they use this data and with whom they share it. That has led to calls from security and privacy experts for more transparency and more scrutiny for consumers.

According to the developers of the Privacy4Cars, by entering the VIN of the car, the user can see what the automakers may know. According to the company, cars for June 2023 can produce 30 GB of data per hour. Car owners in Russia do not even know about most of the information collected from cars. The owners of the car are in a difficult situation, because in most cases they do not know how to block the transfer of data about their vehicle to the manufacturer. Where and how then the auto giants Honda and Toyota use the information received about the owner and his car, there is no exact data.Service Link

Wired's editors analyzed the privacy policies of 26 major automotive brands. Most companies collect data on location, speed, acceleration, braking, cornering and other driving parameters, according to the report. Tesla and Ford collect data about the state of the car, such as fuel levels, engine errors and even tire pressure levels. According to Wired, some car manufacturers can even access data from connected devices such as smartphones, tablets and navigators.[1]
