2023: Product Announcement
At the end of June 2023, Ural Locomotives LLC created Malakhit 3ES8 electric locomotives for trains 1 km long that can ride in the mountains. At the first stage, about 50 electric locomotives will be produced.
Malakhit 3ES8 electric locomotives with a capacity of 12 thousand kW with Russian asynchronous motors were presented in March 2022 and tested on the VNIIZhT ring road and the Belorechenskaya-Maykop railway section.
The press service of Ural Locomotives reported that the production of the first batch of locomotives will begin after the signing of the contract. Malakhit 3ES8 with an asynchronous motor (formerly 2ES6A) will be able to drive trains weighing 7.1 thousand tons in mountainous terrain and difficult climate. The load capacity of the electric locomotive is 42% higher than that of the previous generation locomotives, and the length of the train can exceed 1 km. For the Malachite 3ES8, a domestic asynchronous traction drive was developed with the ability to adjust the thrust force equidistantly.
This is the first new generation DC electric locomotive from Ural Locomotives. 3ES8 Malakhit will become a platform for a new family: AC locomotives of 3ES11, dual-system 2ES12. A good railway network and the presence of its own rolling stock production make any economy in the world stronger. We are ready to work both in the Russian market and are waiting for orders from the CIS and Baltic countries, the company said in a statement. |
The main activity of Ural Locomotives LLC is the development, production, sale and maintenance of traction and motor rolling stock. The company produces Sinara 2ES6 freight electric locomotives with collector motors, Granite 2ES10 DC freight electric locomotives with asynchronous traction drive, 2ES7 AC freight electric locomotives and Lastochka high-speed trains.
