2018: Automate auto parts warehouse and improve service by implementing LEAD WMS
Planet Auto is a retail network of car stores and services in the Sverdlovsk Region, operating on the market since 1998.
The company faced the task of increasing the level of customer service, reducing errors in collected orders, reducing dependence on the human factor and increasing the speed of cargo processing. It was decided to implement address storage, the LEAD WMS solution from the Russian developer LogistiX was chosen as the warehouse management system.
The project had to take into account all the specifics of the auto parts warehouse. First of all - a variety of storage technologies and the type of cargo: small-scale and shelf goods, large-sized and oversized, stored on pallets in racks and in floor places. Also, the system should support a multi-thousand active assortment (more than 100,000 SKU) at the reference level and provide operational changes in the event of seasonal spikes in demand by product groups.
After the implementation of WMS, there was a holistic control over the actions of employees in the warehouse. All activities performed by employees are recorded in specialized reports. They also got rid of the "expert opinion" of employees when placing materials in storage areas, this function was taken over by LEAD WMS - the system automatically distributes the goods to the warehouse in accordance with the configured rules of commodity movement. Materials for several orders are collected at the same time by one employee in different collection boxes of different volumes. Placement of different material storage groups is carried out in cell groups specially allocated for data storage groups in accordance with strategies based on ABC analysis.
As a result of the automation project, the number of errors in the recruitment of materials for outbound deliveries decreased, the number of undercarriages and overage in outbound orders decreased.
