2023: Product Announcement

On June 26, 2023, Nike announced a smart jacket called Aerogami designed for athletes - primarily runners. Reacting to sweat, the novelty changes its structure, ensuring optimal temperature. Nike Explore Team (NXT) and Nike Sport Research Lab (NSRL) took part in the development of the product.

The material from which Aerogami is sewn contains an array of small holes. When a person is hot, for example, during intense training, sweat hits the tissue. Under the influence of moisture and increased temperature, the material expands and the holes open. As a result, improved ventilation is achieved, and the body receives additional cooling. On the contrary, when a person cools down, the tissue narrows and the vents return to their original state.

Thus, Aerogami adapts in real time to the needs of its owner. The system does not require power elements to operate, so that the optimization of the material structure is carried out constantly. Arrays of ventilation holes are located on the back and chest, and their location differs for the male and female versions of the jacket. The novelty is made of Storm-FIT ADV material, which is a combination of waterproof and waterproof fabric.

Aerogami is another example of Nike's innovative culture aimed at meeting the needs of runners. The jacket gives athletes increased breathability without compromising style and defense, "said Jahan Behbahany, senior manager of the Nike Advanced Innovation Collective.

Aerogami will be offered in a variety of colour options. The female model will go on sale in July 2023, while the male version will be available in the fall of the same year. There is no information about the estimated price of a smart jacket.^[1]
