On June 30, 2023, the Belgorod State National Research University (NIU BelSU) announced the development of specialized software to determine the degree of guilt of an accident participant.

The software was created by order of the expert and forensic center (ECC) of the Russian MIA Administration for the Belgorod Region. The program is designed to calculate the traffic parameters of vehicles and pedestrians at the stage of their approach before the incident. The application has a simple user interface and is convenient to work with. Software greatly simplifies the implementation of calculations as part of the accident examination. As a result, the efficiency of auto technicians is significantly increased.

Since the beginning of June, our experts have been conducting an examination of a traffic accident not manually, but using software, which significantly saves time when calculating the speeds of vehicles in various conditions, the technical capabilities of drivers to avoid accidents and distances to the vehicle in front, which are necessary to establish the degree of guilt of road accident participants, - said Police Major Dmitry Lazarev.

It is noted that the developers intend to improve the application. In particular, together with the ECC of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Belgorod Region, a decision was made to introduce a software module that will allow creating a promising grid in photographs from the scene of the accident. This will make it possible to work with the trace array in automatic mode, and will also simplify the task of restoring the accident scene scheme to scale for experts. In general, it is expected that the use of new software will reduce the number of inaccuracies and possible errors in establishing the circumstances of road incidents.[1]
