2023: COPD Patient Monitoring Launch

At the end of June 2023, it became known about the launch on the Gostelemed platform of a service for remote monitoring of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The project is being implemented by Sechenov University.

The project is based on methodological recommendations using medical devices and domestic information systems to track people's health. Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, connecting to a personal account from a computer or smartphone, will be able to daily enter data on their well-being into the system. If the user forgets to enter them, "Gostelemed" will send him a notification with a reminder.

In the personal account, both the patient and the doctor will monitor all indicators. If the specialist detects a deterioration in dynamics and is puzzled by the value of any of the parameters, he will be able to assign a full-time or remote reception to the user. In addition, the system is able to independently determine that the tendency to change the condition acquires a negative color and automatically schedule an urgent appointment with a doctor. In the event of a sharp deterioration in the condition, the patient receives a referral for hospitalization, said Valeria Kuzovatova, director of the department for the development of clinical and educational projects at Sechenov University.

Before the data gets to the doctor, they will be verified by personal medical assistants. This is necessary to remove the extra load from the specialist.

By the end of June 2023, an experimental legal regime (EPR) continues to operate in Russia to remotely monitor the health of patients with chronic non-communicable diseases. The project will be valid for two years - from 2023 to 2024, in total it is planned to connect 4 thousand patients to it in the first half of 2023, 7.7 thousand - in the second, 12 and 25 thousand patients in the first and second half of 2024, respectively.[1]
