Microsoft WebMatrix

On January 13 Microsoft submitted version 1.0 of a CMS open code system of Orchard and several other products connected with the open code.

One of the provided produtok – a packet of WebMatrix which represents tool kit for web development "all-water". WebMatrix includes both OpenSource-programs from Microsoft, and means of fast installation of popular OpenSource of web applications, such as WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, DotNetNuke and others.

The Orchard project represents an open CMS system from Microsoft for the ASP.NET platform. As well as WebMatrix, Orchard allows to reduce the number of the code during creation of websites, having made their development and start is simpler and more available even to the audience which is not advanced technically.

The Orchard project is a successor of the project with the open code Oxite and represents the ASP.NET MVC 3 application using the parser (view-engine) of Razor and a SQL database of CE 4. (Both Razor, and new compact DBMS are included into WebMatrix packet.) In December of last year Orchard was translated under Outercurve Foundation aegis – non-profit organization on the development of OpenSource-projects created at the initiative of Microsoft. In addition to transfer of a project code, Microsoft undertook obligations for financing of its further development within three years – throughout this term the permanent members of staff of Microsoft which are specially selected for work on this project will participate in development of Orchard.

WebMatrix WebMatrix is a set of programs for fast deployment of web applications including light version of the IIS Express Web server and upgraded version of SQL Server Compact Edition. Also there the new parser of Razor for ASP.NET allowing developers to use the code on Visual Basic or C# during creation of HTML pages enters.

Besides, Microsoft provided NuGet – the package manager for the Visual Studio, earlier known as NuPack. This project represents option of a class of tools, widespread in community Open Source, for management of programs with ensuring integrity and accounting of interprogram dependences performed by Microsoft. As well as Orchard, NuGet is the application with the open code distributed on the terms of the license Apache 2.0.

WebMatrix allows to publish literally using one button the created websites on platforms of the hosting providers supporting the mechanism of the publication WebDeploy or FTP. Now partners in WebMatrix are Parking.ru and Infobox.ru companies. If desired the developer can use also services of any other hosting provider providing services on Windows Server.

Creators of websites can develop own components for integration with WebMatrix, and it is one more opportunity to spread services for end users. The WebMatrix tool can be useful not only to beginning developers of websites, but also all those for whom optimization of the website for search systems is important. WebMatrix includes the automated instrument of quality check of optimization of the website which allows to increase visibility of the website in the search systems Yandex, Bing, Google and others.
