2023: ResMed bought Somnoware

On July 5, 2023, the manufacturer of medical devices for improving breathing ResMed announced the conclusion of a deal to acquire the firm Somnoware, a developer of specialized software for the healthcare sector.

Somnoware software optimizes the work of doctors and test laboratories to diagnose lung disease and sleep disorders. Somnoware solutions help to increase the effectiveness of SIPAP therapy (CPAP), the essence of which boils down to artificial ventilation of the lungs with constant positive pressure. This method can be used, in particular, in the treatment of sleep apnea. The software platform makes it easier to schedule patient visits to hospitals and helps track therapy rates. The results obtained are automatically transmitted to the electronic medical record. In addition, the ordering of the necessary medical equipment is simplified.

The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. It is only noted that the takeover of Somnoware will not have a significant impact on the financial performance of ResMed. Asset transfers are accompanied by lawyers for Ziegler, King & Spalding LLP and DLA Piper. It would require traditional regulatory approvals to complete the merger.

ResMed intends to retain all Somnoware staff. The solutions of the acquired company will be integrated into the ResMed ecosystem, which will expand the range of offers for customers.
