2023: Product Announcement
In mid-July 2023, it became known about the creation in Russia of a device for the exact determination of equipment defects by sound. This is the development of the Omsk State Technical University (OmSTU).
According to TASS, citing the press service of the university, scientists have developed a unique method for assessing the state of working machines by changing the vibration acoustic signal in real time. A device based on this technique analyzes a vibroacoustic signal, the slightest changes in the parameters of which signal certain mechanical damage to equipment components.
According to the developers, the essence of the diagnostic problem is to select and justify informative signal parameters that would allow assessing the condition of the equipment with the highest accuracy and determine the type and degree of danger of the defect. To assess the operation of industrial devices in OmGTU, an acoustic signal - sound is used.
When cracks occur and develop, energy is released, which turns into thermal and mechanical energy, it can be "heard" by special equipment, "said Alexander Naumenko, head of the study, professor of the Department of Radio Engineering Devices and Diagnostic Systems of OmSTU. |
He added that mechanical energy turns into acoustic waves.
According to the researchers, by increasing the reliability when assessing the state of the equipment, it will be possible to move from planned preventive repair to operation according to the actual state. For continuous production, this will make it possible to increase the overhaul mileage from one year to three to five years. In addition, according to them, there are significant savings in repair costs, because the staff will know exactly what to repair, what spare parts are needed and how long the repair will take.[1]
