2023: Program Launch

On July 24, 2023, the Ozon marketplace announced the launch of a convict recruitment program. The company will offer jobs at its fulfillment centers to more than 500 lenient convicts.

Only those who are convicted for the first time and live in correctional centers and settlement colonies will become participants in the Ozon without conviction project. Such convicts are not under escort and can travel outside the territory of correctional institutions. New employees will collect orders for customers and process returned orders in warehouses. The project does not apply to the courier service and points of issue of orders.

Ozon announces launch of convict recruitment program

The authors of the initiative believe that it will allow convicts to more easily cope with social adaptation and improve their employment prospects in the future. The company also stressed that the share of convicts in each warehouse will not exceed 10%. In total, logistics warehouses in the Moscow region, Kazan and Rostov-on-Don will take part in the project. Now such a project is already operating in St. Petersburg, it was launched in September 2022. Ozon explained that the project showed effectiveness and therefore it was decided to expand its geography.

The experience of the pilot project prompted us to invite convicts to cooperate in other regions where our infrastructure is actively expanding and the volume of work is growing. With the scaling of the project, we want not dozens, but hundreds of people to be able to get relevant and demanded competencies in logistics, which will be useful for them in employment in the future, and to lend a helping hand to those who once stumbled, - said Natalia Labunicheva, human resources director of the Ozon supply chain.

After release from correctional institutions, project participants will be able to continue to work in the warehouse or qualify for open vacancies in the company on an equal footing with other candidates.^[1]
