2023: System Announcement

On July 20, 2023, MediView XR announced the release of the XR90 system, an augmented reality (AR) based surgical imaging and navigation platform. The solution will help with soft tissue and bone surgery.

The XR90 system is designed to address the limitations and disadvantages of traditional medical imaging devices based on 2D monitors. Such complexes do not allow obtaining volumetric images of organs and structures in the body. In addition, they require the surgeon to constantly look away from the operating field, which creates certain inconveniences and can disrupt visual-motor coordination.

System for soft tissue and bone operations in augmented reality released

The XR90 platform circumvents the limitations of two-dimensional imaging by providing doctors with three-dimensional "X-ray vision" during the procedure. The system makes it possible to visualize in detail the internal anatomy of the patient in 3D format, including bones, tissues, organs and vasculature. With the Microsoft HoloLens 2 AR headset, surgeons can get useful information to improve the efficiency of the operation.

The device projects virtual 3D models based on a patient's CT scan. In addition, real-time ultrasound data is displayed. The platform is designed primarily to perform minimally invasive procedures such as biopsy and ablation of tumors (using heat or cold to kill cancer cells). Augmented reality systems include a holographic light beam that shows the trajectory of a physician's instrument.
