The high cost of migration on Windows 7 forced Microsoft to update means of virtualization

The majority of corporate applications "is ground" under Windows XP therefore single-step migration on Windows 7 can cost to business too many "candles". To stimulate sales of the new operating system, Microsoft updated a virtualization line: using "seven", the companies will be able to start software from virtual XP.
Microsoft issued the solution for virtualization of Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Virtualization (MED-V) in public beta testing to help business to migrate on the new version of the Windows 7 operating system.
MED-V is the corporate version of Windows XP supporting all key functions which will allow the companies to start all the main business applications in virtual environment of XP, actually working in Windows 7. Thus, setting bridges with the old corporate software, MED-V as envisioned by the company will remove the main obstacle for migration in Windows 7.
"MED-V is a bridge which will allow the companies to create the long-term plan on operation of applications which can not work in the environment of Windows 7, and their replacement at the moment would be too expensive for the company", - the director of Microsoft Desktop Virtualization Karri Alexion-Tiernan in the blog [[Aleksion-Tyernan Carry|]] said.
The beta of MED-V contains a row important a usability of qualities: users will not be required to enter every time the password at login, also they can use System Center Configuration Manager as MED-V deliveries mechanism on workstations. MED-V can also work together with the solution App-V, one more instrument of virtualization which allows to unroll and operate virtual applications in the environment of MED-V 2.0 Beta, she added.
App-V 4.5 and Med-V are components of Microsoft ' Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP), a bundle from several tools which is available only on a subscription of Software Assurance and includes means of virtualization, means of inventory, the monitor of errors on desktops and technology of management of the rights of groups. The final version of software will appear in the first half of 2011.
According to Gartner analytical company, need of transition from Windows XP and Windows 2000 to Windows 7 in a short time will create additional loading for the companies in 2011-2012. At the same time transition to Windows 7 will have noticeable influence on IT budgets of the companies. According to forecasts of Gartner, in 2011-2012 the share of budgetary funds selected for the PC at best will increase by 20%, in the worst – to 60%. Assuming that 15% of IT budgets are the share of the PC, it means that it will need to be increased by 18-24% that can have significant effect on IT expenses within these years.
