2023: Development of a Process Planning Application

On August 8, 2023, KORUS Consulting announced that the company's experts had developed an application for Ikon Tires, thanks to which tire production avoided unplanned stops and ensured the planned production of winter tires for the 2023 winter season.

Previously, the plant was the Russian division of the Finnish tire concern Nokian Tyres and for a long time used a production planning application provided by the head office of the concern. After the change of ownership, in connection with the sale of Russian business by the concern, the application became unavailable.

Due to the fact that the production of Ikon Tyres tires is carried out on the principle of an uninterrupted conveyor line, the termination of the old application could lead to a shutdown of the plant. Creating plans for the production of tires of different sizes, managing production facilities, monitoring technological shutdowns of equipment, as well as timely delivery of orders at an automated plant is possible only if there is a multifunctional application. In this regard, the company needed a reliable partner to develop a replacement solution.

Production planning processes at the Ikon Tyres tire plant are special, therefore, special development was required, which has no analogues in the market. To develop a replacement, we turned to the experts of KORUS Consulting, with whom there were already many years of experience in cooperation: over 10 years, 5 joint projects were completed, including the implementation of WMS in the distribution center in 2016 and the organization of technical support.

The project for the development of the application includes three stages, the first of which has already been completed: KORUS Consulting specialists have developed and implemented MVP solutions that allow planning tire production based on business needs and factory capabilities. To do this, the experts developed a user interface, deployed and configured the infrastructure necessary for the application to work, and also carried out the necessary testing stages and put the system into commercial operation.

When there is no ready-made solution on the market that fully meets the needs, we offer our customers custom development. The system has a wide range of functions for creating, adjusting or shifting a production plan over time, several types of presentation, many filters and methods for finding data, commented Mikhail Gedzberg, head of the custom development department of KORUS Consulting Group of Companies.

During the second and third stages of the project, the developers will add functional blocks: planning the tire stud process and planning the loading of presses.

The result of cooperation between KORUS Consulting and Ikon Tires was the operational replacement of the "departed" software: the application allows you to conveniently plan tire production from one day to six months. Now employees of the plant in Vsevolozhsk, as full owners of the product, can quickly customize and customize the solution according to their needs.

We are in a situation where production must continue to work, and the data must be saved and the system replaced. KORUS Consulting experts considered all possible options and proposed custom development as a way to solve our difficult problem. We are satisfied with the result of the project: the production planning application not only replaced the previous software, but also takes into account our wishes formed during work with the previous system, told the project manager from Ikon Tyres Iouri Alexandrov.
