2023: Implementation of a vehicle monitoring system at the Kumroch field

On August 16, 2023, MegaFon announced that it was deploying a vehicle monitoring system at one of the largest gold ore deposits in the Kamchatka Territory. Through automation, the partner will be able to more effectively manage the fleet and reduce the cost of maintaining it.

GORA, which is implementing the Kumroch field development project, is implementing MegaFon's Fleet Control solution, connecting all vehicles to the monitoring system. Each machine is equipped with a navigation module that determines its coordinates and speed. The system also monitors data from sensors installed on transport that monitor engine temperature, fuel and oil levels, and other important indicators.

Information from the modules is transmitted automatically to the online monitoring platform. For a stable signal, MegaFon is completing the construction of the network on the territory of the Kumroch field.

The company online will be able to control the movement of vehicles and understand in what work it is involved, if necessary, adjust the task for drivers in order to avoid long downtime of equipment. MegaFon's platform will also tell you when the fuel in the storage facilities located at the field is running out and will signal the dispatchers for a new purchase.

Fuel level in vehicles by time detail. Specialists can analyze its consumption by each machine and take prompt measures in case of significant deviations. Information on engine temperature, oil level makes it possible to detect technical malfunctions and send transport for repair in a timely manner. This approach reduces fleet maintenance costs by up to 40%.

"Digitalization in the mining industry is a steady trend. By automating processes, a business can improve efficiency and reduce costs. During the development of the Kumroch field, our partner manages a large number of equipment. The Fleet Control solution, which operates on the basis of IoT technologies and is fully implemented on Russian software, allows not only to reduce accidents and downtime of special equipment, but also demonstrates the financial effect - the service life of the transport is increased by 20%, the costs of its maintenance are reduced, "said Natalya Taldykina, Director of Corporate Business Development at MegaFon.

"During the design and construction of industrial facilities of the Kumroch mining and processing plant, we pay special attention to the issues of responsible subsoil use and the use of the best available technologies. Cooperation with MegaFon is a clear example of the implementation of practices in the field of digitalization of production. The project allows us to most effectively manage the fleet of automotive and mining equipment, as well as quickly solve production problems, "said Alexander Denebaev, director of production and operation at GORA.

MegaFon's decision takes into account the prospect of fleet growth and the emergence of new challenges in the development of the Kumroch field. The project involves the creation by 2026 of a mining and processing plant with an annual production volume of up to 4 tons of gold with its balance reserves of 48.8 tons.
