2023: Product Announcement

In mid-August 2023, an unusual computer input device called Clip Mouse debuted. This small wearable gadget can completely replace the usual mouse.

In design terms, the novelty resembles a clip in the form of the letter U, rotated 90 degrees. It is worn on the index and middle fingers of the hand, acting as a wireless manipulator. Movements are recorded using the built-in accelerometer. Since there is no traditional optical sensor that comes with mice, you can control on a surface of any shape, and not just on a flat one.

The bottom of the Clip Mouse, located under the fingers, is equipped with a touch-sensitive sensor. This allows you to register "presses" of the left and right buttons that simulate the user's fingers. At the end of the clip there is a button for temporarily disabling control: this is necessary, for example, during typing, when hand movements may not be interpreted correctly to move the cursor. The same button is used to quickly center the cursor in the middle of the screen.

Data exchange with the computer is carried out via Bluetooth 5.0. The built-in battery charge is said to be residual for about 50 hours of battery life. The energy reserve is replenished via the USB Type-C port.

It is noted that Clip Mouse electronics are calibrated in such a way that movements are perceived only in the horizontal plane. This eliminates "parasitic" cursor movements and provides intuitive control. The novelty is compatible with computers based on Windows and macOS. The estimated price of the device is €60. Options are available in white and black colors.^[1]
