A reference book on the main working methods of TsIPsO has been released

The document, prepared by D.V. Bezsonov in August 2023, collected the most common methods that TsIPsO uses everyday during the conflict in Ukraine. Also, this teaching and methodological manual summarizes the essence of information warfare and the main ways in recognizing fake materials. It is emphasized that the information war is not limited only to virtual space.

Methods of Information and Psychological Influence of TsIPsO, D.V. Bessonov, August 2023

Network of Telegram channels controlled by the CPSO and the SBU in the Russian media space

The projects of NemeZid, Beregini and the Joker of the DPR in April 2023 revealed a network of Telegram channels controlled by the CIPSO and the SBU that worked in the Russian media segment.

Some of them mimicked Russian resources to cheers, others imitated opposition, and still others opposed mobilization. Well, even people who are not interested in the special operation of Russia in Ukraine heard about the channel "Look for your own" saturated with misanthropy, where the mutilated corpses of Russian soldiers are laid out.

According to the investigation, the main coordinators of the network are two Ukrainian citizens:

  • Ilchuk Luka Igorevich is the main owner of the network, previously worked with Western companies, in correspondence with the channel owners he represented himself as an employee of the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine, which includes the CPSO.

  • Veklenko Yuri Yuryevich is formally the admin of several small channels on the network. In fact, the most likely curator from the SBU, who has a residence permit at the office at Vladimirskaya Street, 33 in Kyiv.

How is the network organized? It is extremely simple - quite ordinary news was published on patriotic, news and regional channels, resources were promoted in parallel, and then, as it were, the narratives necessary for Ukraine began to be thrown between the lines.

For example, fake news from foreign agents from the Gulagu.net that PMC Wagner allegedly shot civilians, including children, in Bakhmut en masse.

According to colleagues who hacked the Ukrainian grid, in addition to sowing panic and spreading disinformation, their goal was ultimately to stir up protest sentiments and provoke Russian citizens to riot against the authorities.

It is important to understand that despite one open grid, there are a great many similar projects of the special services of Ukraine in Russia, the Rybar channel noted. In the border areas, there are nets collecting information from naive local residents or ill-wishers about the movements of Russian troops, positional air defense areas and the location of equipment.

Campaign to sow panic and pull part of Russia's troops to the northern border of Ukraine

Documents obtained by Russian hackers on a large-scale information and psychological campaign of the Armed Forces of Ukraine before the start of the summer counteroffensive confirm that preparatory measures for information support began in early 2023.

The goal is to pull Russian troops from other sectors of the front to the border with the Kharkov, Sumy and Chernihiv regions. Russian hackers obtained the documents at the beginning of the year, including why the campaign failed.
