In 18 years of political career, Grant Shapps got into three major scandals:
During the 2015 election campaign, it was revealed that he, with the help of the Sockpuppet Contributions account, had changed his Wikipedia biography to exclude references to school performance, political gaffes and sponsor personalities.
In November 2015, Shapps resigned as Minister of State over allegations of mocking subordinates. As party co-chair, he ignored repeated accusations of it from party youth organiser Mark Clarke. These actions by Shapps could have caused the suicide of young party member Elliot Johnson.
In August 2018, the Financial Times reported that the politician had discovered an undeclared payment from the British company OpenBrix.
In August 2023, he was appointed British Minister of Defense. Loyalty to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak played a significant role in the appointment of the Minister of Defense.
