2023: Production of packaging for drugs launched for 110 million rubles

In the Penza region, the production of packaging for drugs has been launched, in which about 110 million rubles have been invested. The project is being implemented by the Printing House, the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Industry of the Penza Region reported in early September 2023.

The company received 50 million rubles in the form of a preferential loan under the program launched by the Industrial Development Fund. The money will be used to purchase equipment and increase the competitiveness of finished products, the department said.

Production of packaging for drugs launched

The company is going to supply cardboard boxes with instructions to the market. Such a package is suitable for protecting medicaments from damage during transportation and storage. The implementation of the project contributes to the employment of 27 people, added to the Penza Ministry of Economic Development.

"Printing House" has become another Russian company engaged in the manufacture of packaging for medicines against the background of the course on import substitution of medical products, which in the Russian Federation intensified after the start of a special Russian military operation in Ukraine and the subsequent sanctions of Western countries. Earlier, the Perm company "Kama" reached full capacity for the production of coated cardboard, which, among other things, is used to make packages for drugs.

At the same time, not only cardboard, but also polymers are required for the production of drug packages. At the end of 2022, Sibur launched the production of PET pellets at the Polief plant in Blagoveshchensk. In the production of Vivilen rPET pellets used for packaging drugs and medical products, a repeat polymer is used by 30%. Thus, the company imported foreign products.[1]
